Davao Entry Malaya Tops Freedom Song Contest
of Davao City was awarded the Freedom Song 2014
on Sunday, 19 October 2014 at the CCP Complex, Pasay City. Malaya
beat 14 other finalists in the song writing contest that attracted a total of 82 entries from all over the Philippines.
's act opened the Freedom Concert followed by the live performances of all the finalists. Some flew in from Cebu, Bacolod, Davao and as far as Zamboanga. There were also contestants from Baguio, Bulacan and Metro Manila. Malaya
topped the judges' score sheet with 93%.

with the finalists. "Continue making music because it is not only a means to express yourself, but can also be a platform to create positive change in our country. You all made a good start," said Cabangon as he congratulated the finalists.
